How much do I get?
How does it work? The government is assisting consumers who want to give up their old gas-guzzlers for new, more fuel-efficient cars. Based on the differential of fuel-economy between your old car and the new VW you have your eye on, you could be in line for a credit worth up to $4500.
How is a credit different than a trade-in? Unlike a trade-in where the value of your old car is put towards the purchase of a new car, a credit is money from the government to help you pay for a new, more fuel-efficient VW. In exchange, your old car will be destroyed as part of a national effort to remove low mileage vehicles from circulation.
Can I get more by trading in? Depends on the condition, year, and mileage of your current car. Dealerships offer different trade-in values based on a variety of factors. Consult a dealer to determine the best course of action for your specific situation.
Which Volkswagen models qualify for the credit? Practically every model in the Volkswagen lineup qualifies for C.A.R.S. See above chart for qualifying Volkswagen models. Visit www.cars.gov for full program details.
Are there any additional offers to the program? The best value of all is the Jetta TDI Clean Diesel, which could qualify you for up to a $4500 credit, plus an additional $1,300 federal tax credit†. Learn more about TDI Clean Diesel at TDItruthanddare.com. View our new car inventory!
